How to properly plan a sailing trip? Part 1

Vacation on the foundation is the sound of the waves, landing at the ports located on the picturesque coasts and visiting coastal cities. In order for the cruise to be an unforgettable experience for all crew members, you should carefully plan every detail of the trip, from the date of the cruise, to the specific model of the yacht and the places you want to visit. What should we especially pay attention to? We have prepared some tips.

Choosing a place

Before we go on a cruise, we should choose a destination, analyze all possible options. A good starting point will be to identify the locations of interest to us, taking into account the weather conditions prevailing in a given place at a specific time. The My Sea application, an interactive guide to Croatia and other countries, such as e.g. Greece or Turkey. Using the software, you can efficiently book a parking space, find information about beaches, supermarkets, restaurants or tourist attractions.

The date of the cruise

The shipping date is usually determined by the free time we have. However, it is worth not to set a travel date in the high season. The siege of tourists in coastal towns and the increased interest in yacht charter in mid-July and August (for Croatia) is characterized by particular congestion in ports and cities. If you want more comfort and perfect weather at the same time, you can plan a cruise at the turn of June and July. By the way, do not forget to book your yacht in advance as boat holidays are very popular.

Yacht selection

The choice of a yacht depends on several factors, first of all on the nature of the voyage – we will choose a different boat when planning a trip with friends, and a different one in the case of sailing with the family, including children. There are also important issues such as the equipment of the boat, its size, number of cabins and amenities (grill, ice machine, desalinator, water toys and others). It is also good to think carefully whether in our case a better option will be to rent a boat with or without a crew.

The choice of yachts is quite large and we know from experience that making the final decision can be quite difficult. So we are here to help.

Among the boats for rent without a crew, we especially recommend models such as:

  • Sessa Fly 42 Jupik II
  • Sessa Fly 47 Stardust
  • Ferretti Fly 450 Lady Esmeralda

For larger crewed yachts, a good choice would be:

  • Explorer Fly 62 Blue Moon
  • Galeon Fly 680 Paradise
  • Azimut Fly 66 Karat II.

Deposit insurance

Renting a yacht requires a deposit. However, it is worth knowing that we have the option of buying a deposit insurance. This solution has many advantages. First of all, the costs of any damage are covered by the insurer, and we will receive a full refund. This makes your vacation even more enjoyable.

As you can see, before we start enjoying a unique vacation, we have to make some important decisions and plan the course of the trip. It’s good to start planning well in advance and give yourself time to think carefully about each issue. Thanks to this, during the cruise, we will save ourselves nerves, relax and forget about the gray reality.

This is only the first part of our tips. We encourage you to read the second part of our guide.
