The first quarter of the new year is the perfect moment to summarize the most significant events of 2020. These undoubtedly include the largest event in Europe – The Best of Boats Award.
These prestigious awards have been presented by Boat & Fun Berlin since 2014.
The beginnings of the Best of Boats Award
The idea for the Best of Boats Award, referred to in short as BOB, was born in 2014. This event, which today is the most prestigious in the world of sailing, was started by journalists. Although they came from many countries and had different experiences, each of them shared a passion for sailing. It turned into a desire to create a unique competition in which awards will be presented annually to the best motor boats. Currently, it is the originators of the competition – journalists are members of the Jury.
Best of Boats Award 2020 finalists
The number of qualified participants exceeded the wildest expectations of the organizers, who finally selected as many as 21 finalists in five categories:
- Best for beginners
- Best for fishing
- Best for families
- Best for fun
- Best for travel
We are most interested in the winners of the last three categories, which we will briefly present.
Best yacht for families
The best yacht for families was the French Prestige 420 Fly. It is perfection visible in every detail. Everything necessary for a dream and comfortable cruise with the whole family is on board. Best yacht for fun
The winner in this category was the Swedish Nimbus T8, made for fun! It was designed for all kinds of water sports. At the same time, its safe and comfortable deck is an ideal place for social gatherings. Another important feature is its versatility. The Nimbus T8 has 3 different canopy solutions to choose from: a port cover, a helmet cover or a T-top version with a large canopy.
The T-top increases the comfort of travel as it provides protection even when the weather deteriorates. This, in turn, helps to extend the sailing season.
Best yacht for travel
This category marks the triumph of the Italian yacht Absolute Navetta 64. The guarantee of travel comfort is due to the huge space on board. The lounge on the main deck is surrounded by frameless glass windows, allowing you to admire the beautiful scenery as you cruise. The whole is complemented by comfortable sofas, a large table and an entertainment area. The main justification for the jury’s verdict is functionality and innovation, which are visible in the design of the aft cabin.
